Saaremaa 2018!
Cold weather being more often and the sky being grey and not blue means autumn is here, but that definitely isn't a bad thing, because autumn is the time when we pack our bags look forward going on a ferry that takes us to..., that's right once again Ašais visited the beautiful & magical island - Saaremaa. Like every year, fall comes, and so does SAAREMAA
3 PÄEVA JOOKS. This is our 6th year competing is this event and we are already waiting for the next years' competition. Every year is different in some way and we haven't become bored of it. Part of the beauty is in the fact, that it's a rally, because results from each day are added together and that total time from all 3 days is yout end result. This year in the youth race participated a record amount of competitors - 210! Time flies! And everything needs to come to and end. It's sad that this event passed so quickly, but there is no time to sorrow. Unfortunately, despite Artis being 1st both in the second and third race day, it wasn't enough to overcome the lost time of first racing day, being 2nd after a strong Estonian competitor. In the end Artis Rožkalns stood on the silver step of the pedestal only losing 2,4 seconds to 1st place in all three days. However, Artis set the seconds fastest track time (sum of all 3 days) in the history of this competition. Also Roberts Aleksis Glazers has also left a sign of himself in the history of this race, becoming an alltime fastest runner in P11 age group since the foundation of
SAAREMAA
3 PÄEVA JOOKS. Roberts 4th of all 210 competitors. Just as exiting is the victory of Stella Paltiņa in T6 age group. She also became the first girl of SC Ašais to win in Saaremaa. 3rd is Kārlis Dieviņš, who has set a new personal record in this race. 4th in T14 is Renāte Beļājeva. This is her... third 4th place, that she has got in Saaremaa. In the very strong group of P11, Ričards Dāvis Špacs right next to Roberts Cercins. Ričards 10th and Roberts 11th, but Tīna Briša in T11 group is 11th.
So much beauty in something so seemingly ordinary. Time spent together, emotions and competition. Now we wait for the next year to come with the next trip to Saaremaa. Photos - here!
