Roberts Glazers - U18 Baltics champion in cross country running!

In a time, when good news are often hard to come by, SC Ašais has done everything to bring a beam of light in this otherwise dreary time. On October 30th all of the strongest cross runners from all the Baltic countries gathered in Palanga to compete in the Baltic Cross Country Team championship! And Roberts Glazers as the number #1 was a part of the Latvian U18 team! Before the start there was no doubt about the fierce competition that was about to happen, because as Estonia's #1 was the excellent 800m runner and the European U20 championship runner, Kronberg. It was clear that the most tactically advanced will win. We are truly happy to announce that in the 4km cross run victorious was Roberts Glazers, becoming the U18 Baltic champion in cross country running! Therefore Roberts has earned his second Baltic champion title this season - 1500m and now cross running! We are proud! Photos - here!

9th fall in the island of Saaremaa for SC Ašais

That's right! The 9th fall of SC Ašais visiting the Estonian island of Saaremaa! This year award balance consists of two victories and a 2nd place! An excellent performance for Roberts Glazers in his 7th time competing in Saaremaa, with a victory and an all time fastest time!  In T11 age group a victory for Stella Paltiņa, and a historical start for Teodors Godiņš with his silver medal in P11 age group being the 1000th medal for the club as well! Roberts Cercins 6th in P14 age group, however Elza Niklase experienced an unlucky fall on the second race day therefore withdrawing from the competition and taking away another pedestal for the club. Sc Ašais gathers the best cross runners at Āraiši

We are happy and truly proud to report that the unmistakable beauty of Āraiši was shown to the highest degree! You would ask - to whom? To the best young cross runners in Latvia! On October 12th, next to Āraiši lake at the Āraiši windmill occured Latvian athletics league championship in cross running for U14, U16, U18 and U20 age groups! The track weaved through the scenic sites of Āraiši. More happiness for SC Ašais performance to boot! Two gold medals obtained! Fall - Smiltene - 7 pedestals!

In fall there are two main events, in which Ašais athletes take part in. First of the is "Smiltenes laps"! And this time 7 awards have been braught home! Rapidly closing in on the club's 1000th medal!  A victory for Roberts Glazers, this being the 8th time competing in this race with 7 victories in the bank! Furthermore Roberts has the all time fastest time in the 6,6km distance! Victories for Teodors Godiņš, Stella Paltiņa, Egija Mihailova and Lana Lindermane to boot! SC Ašais youngsters from Gulbene with 5 pedestals!

After a long we have returned to the "Laps of Gulbene" running competition. Back in 2009 when the club was only a year old Inese Avsejeva had performed excellently. Now in 2021, this generations youngsters are all in medal runners! Teodors Godiņš confidently fastest in the 6km distance and right after Teodors was Roberts Cercins who has restarted his running career! However ladies got medals as follows: a silver medal for Luīze Rajecka and a bronze medal for both Egija Mihailova and Dārta Cipule accordingly. Cesis region school fall cross with two gold medals!

While the "old" SC Ašais members are out and about their day-to-day life, Ašais youngsters run the Cesis regional fall cross. And a run with confidence without a doubt! Stella Paltiņa and Teodors Godiņš with honor win the race in the U14 age group! Stella ran the second fastest time even among boys to boot! Happy about Roberts Cercins who has returned with a new spark and after a 4 month break returns with a 5th place pace in U16!

Roberts Glazers second in Riga marathon 10km distance!

And here it is! Roberts' first medal in Riga marathon! For the first time doing the 10km highway run Roberts gets 2nd place and a new club records - 33:45! It had been a dream for Roberts to step on the pedestal since childhood, however the organizers had other ideas and sent the awards afterwards. Other Ašais runners did the 5,5km distance. Teodors Godiņš finishes as the olympic 6th in men's competition. Among the ladies competition 4th and 6th place for Elza Niklase and Renāte Beļājeva respectively! Photos - here!

Ašais runs Stirnu Buks with "holiday legs"

In an absolute mini pack of the team Ašais runners compete in this years first Stirnu Buks, which occured in Sigulda. Roberts Glazers, Teodors Godiņš and Stella Paltiņa competed in the school championship distance to understand what can the relaxed holiday legs do. Despite the holidays after the long athletics season, Roberts celebrated his unmistakable victory in the squirrel distance and in the school championship to boot. This was Roberts' 16th victory in Stirnu Buks competitions. Stella Paltiņa 4th in her age group and Teodors - 5th. A bitter suprise happened when the awarding ceremony was hosted 40 min earlier than scheduled. Just sad... Photos - here!

Anatomy of season 2021

Thank God, season of 2021 was not ruined by Covid-19. Therefore SC Ašais had a fulfilling summer! And what a season it was! Let's take a look!

Continuing further, Elza Niklase also had a fulfilling first season in the U18 age group with two victories, two 2nd places and a 3rd place this summer! Also including a 3rd place in the Latvian championship for adults in the 1500m and also a 2nd place for the 3000m distance in the U18 Latvian championship! Just as much joy for U14 Stella Paltiņa who managed to get bronze in the 1000m. Unfortunately due to the virus, Teodors Godiņš had to pass the Latvian championship, however his seasons' results suggested a place on the pedestal was possible.

The other youngsters of SC Ašais are continuing to get acquainted with athletics and who will most likely experience their own pedestals next season.

And now time for a little rest before the preperations begin for the fall/winter season!

SC Ašais returns to the stadium with an excellent club record!

Finally it has happened! After a 9 month pause, finally the first athletics competition has arrived! With the arrival of  Latvian athletics union organised competition, the athletes of SC Ašais have finally returned to the stadium! And returned they have with two pedestals of the three possible! An excellent victory for Roberts Aleksis Glazers in the U18 age group 1500m run and a new PR, as well as a new club record for the distance. His result - 4:09,67!! 2nd place got, in the 1500m too, Elza Niklase. Unfortunately Renāte Beļājeva in her 400m sprint lost herself somewhere in the translation. Anyhow, this is to be celebrated - the long awaited return to the stadium! Joy! Photos - here!

Champions of Zvārtes iezis

May has passed and here is the outcome of SC Ašais part of Zvārtes iezis championship. On the Strava webpage we see the following statistics. Among men this is the TOP 3: 1st place Raitis Jirgensons (4:55), 2nd place Andžejs Stepančuks (5:14), 3rd place Nauris Spalviņš (5:15). Among women the TOP 3 are these three young ladies: 1st place Estere Volfa (5:26), 2nd place Marta Luize Petersone (5:46), 3rd place Daido Dagne Brūvere (6:48). Hence the main prize - 1kg of excellent coffee means from "Melnais Gulbis" - was awared to Raitis Jirgensons and Estere Volfa, however all TOP 3 runners got a special prize from SC Ašais.
